The Markha Valley is one of the largest and most stunning valleys in the region, making trekking through it a memorable experience. The journey begins from Leh, giving you a great opportunity to acclimatize and explore the rich culture of the area before you start the trek. As you gain altitude, you’ll pass through small, picturesque villages, each with its own charm. It’s surprising to find cozy tea houses and cafes in these remote hamlets, offering you a refreshing cup of hot tea when you need a break from the trek. You’ll pass through Skiu, Sara, Markha, Hankar, and Nimaling, each of which will recharge your energy and make your journey even more special. Many of these places have ancient monasteries, ruined forts, and temples that hold centuries of history. Among them, the Tacha Monastery, nestled between mountains, is a must-visit and a true delight for the eyes.
